important causes. There would be the ones that we work on all together, all activists sending LTTEs or whatever about a particular issue, and then there would be this smorgasbord. Here people could CHOOSE causes that grab their own passionate interest.
Some will be worthy of wide interest and support though they are currently almost unknown:
Example - if HR 1316 passes, "bought" elections will become legal. See here;
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1847357Thread title: Email your Reps to STOP H.R. 1316, the "Make Congress More Corrupt" Bill
(It passed out of committee into the full House earlier this month. If it looks like a vote will be taken, we MUST act. You will not BELIEVE the provisions of this bill.)
Others will incite passionate interest in fewer people who are already atuned to the subject matter, say a particular environmental cause, or one targetted to elderly people, or to a limited area of the country.
These need to be put where they will get high visibility by people who might do something to support them, not just have to be posted over and over where they are not seen or, if they are, fall off the Greatest page after a day so that the process has to be done again and again.
So people who want to DO somthing coud be "official" activists on the "offical" projects and also be able to browse the smorgasbord for causes that appeal to them.
Getting late here and I'm rambling. I hope you can make out what I am trying to say.
If the Admins are going to pick a few projects for full DU support, I think we should have a way of assuring that OTHER projects, not chosen by the Admins, get what support they can.
