The 2004 election will be the first in which I actually paid attention to primary season. In the past, it seems that the party nominee's VP selection (whether it be repub or dem) has always been selected outside the realm of fellow candidates in the same election year.

I'm wondering whether or not it is viable to have a VP that was a primary candidate and when such a practice has been done in the past. Thanks for any info and personal opinions you can share.
