33. Oh, the hubby is compassionate

but like all of us in this wealthy country, he is just pretty picky about food. I mean, we all watch gourmet cooking shows for entertainment in westernized countries, and in the USA there is an entire network devoted to food and cooking techniques (the Food Network).

I think he was just shocked to see what these people go through, andthe way that meal looked when it was being prepared and done...and I tend to agree, because if you're not literally starving, it just looked like mushy cooked grass. Not pleasant or appetizing at all. Bless their hearts.

It is true, that we can all learn that the most precious thing in life if to be with the ones we love. You observed that the extreme poor do at least know that. To be that poor and hungry, and to also be lonely, would be the very representation of hell.

We get too distracted here (with all our work and meetings and stresses) to appreciate our families and spending time together, but the quest for more "things" and our obsessive consumerism never enters into the actual equasion for happiness. Of course, I never underestimate the the value and loveliness of a pleasant meal either...
