Some things I took out of the story:

First off, in earlier threads I have worn the tinfoil hat theory with pride that HST may have set this up and that "Hollywood" was trying to send us a message with some type of theme to the movies and that MM had said we should turn to Hollywood for answers and that all might not be what it appeared to be.

I have been unable to find the MM references. If anyone can help me with that that would be great.

However, the RM news article can help me demonstrate my point about HST and the freaky Hollywood connections a bit.

Partial list of attendees at HST memorial:

Sean Penn- Star of "Mystic River" movie regarding the rape and murder of his daughter and his friends abduction and rape/molestation as a child by, I think two powerful men, one of which was a priest. (I can't remember this movie very well so help me if I am wrong.) Penn’s character eventually kills the friend who was kidnapped and molested as a child because he believes THAT man killed his daughter. Turns out he was wrong! Fits the backward pattern we are finding here with Gannon/Guckert/Gosch

Johnny Depp- Played Hunter S. Thompson in movie version of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" REMEMBER THIS LATER ON! He also just appeared in a movie regarding an author that has hallucinations about a book he wrote and his family being murdered because of it. That movie takes some VERY weird twists and turns. Turns out HE is doing the murdering. Again the twist of nothing being as it seems. "Secret Window"

Josh Hartnett- Plays Hunter S. Thompson in the movie version of "The Rum Diary" REMEMBER THIS LATER ON! (Haven't seen this movie maybe someone could help me out here.)

John Cusack- Did a HST play. REMEMBER THIS!

Jack Nicholson- Nicholson has been said to be EXTREMELY open minded about sex and there have been numerous statements made by people that worked him that he had orgies, threesomes, and a very active sex life. I haven't read a whole lot about this aspect of his life in recent years. But let's just say he seems to be very open-minded about that. He was also a VERY good friend of HST and his comment at the memorial was "Was this some sort of a Thompson stunt?" "Was he really gone?"

Bill Murray- Portrayed HST in "Where the Buffalo Roam." Made the comment at HST memorial "HST may be living on in those gathered round."

THE BILL MURRAY AND JACK NICHOLSON STATEMENTS ARE WHAT I WAS TRYING TO TIE IN WHEN I ASKED YOU TO REMEMBER THIS LATER. Both statements lead me to believe there is a cover-up/attempt to make us believe HST IS dead but could be taken as veiled messages that he is in hiding. MIX THAT WITH THE BERNSTEIN STATEMENT BELOW AND I THINK THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

"Was this some sort of a Thompson stunt?" "Was he really gone?" "HST may be living on in those gathered round." "There are many ways to seek the truth." All these statements are BTW not in quotes in the article but are attributed as having been said without the use of quotes.

Don Johnson- of "Miami Vice" fame was also there. He was HST's neighbor and friend. If I'm not mistaken he did play a part in that movie I mention below with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kiddman "Eyes Wide Shut."

Statements were read at the memorial from Ed Bradley (reporter) and Carl Bernstein (reporter). Carl Bernstein's statement noted "there were many ways to seek the truth" The RM News reporter claims this was a "veiled allusion to Thompson’s shockingly unorthodox methods"

Also present at the memorial were several well-known criminal defense attorneys. Gerald Goldstein, Hall Haddon: Kobe Bryant attorney and JonBonet defense attorney. Maybe Bryant was "set up" as well? Many Coloradoans have found the woman's story hard to believe since SEVERAL semen donations were found in the rape kit. Or maybe Bryant is guilty as sin and that poor woman was a victim of a brutal rape during a Satanic ritual?
