The left needs to get better organized (they need a management consultant, like me!!) They can't possibly "boycott WalMart" -- it's too damn huge. And the NODD was doomed to failure -- not enough publicity, only a small fraction of people on board with the issue, an absurdly large boycott target (the whole US economy!!!), etc.
Nobody seemed to like my idea when I mentioned it on one of the posts above, but boycotting advertisers of specific shows would be much more practical. To be effective at something like this, you'd have to have: 1) a very narrow focus; 2) a specific, tangible goal that is communicated to the target of the boycott; 3) quantifiable, measurable targets for the steps you've determined are necessary to reach that goal, 4) a plan for publicity, and 5) a method of engendering enthusiasm and commraderie among the the people willing to participate and the means of providing constant communication, feedback, and revision based on progress/obstacles.
Well, what the hell, I'm going to do some research and try to find out if anybody has tried to boycott Sean Hannity or Joe Scarborough's advertisers before. It's probably been done but it can't hurt to see.
