11. Good points
I have thought about this for some time now and these are very good points. The Republicans do four things very well. They simplify any issue to short phrases, ie, no new taxes--it’s your money--dead or alive. They use language to their advantage by creating catchy names for issues, ie, death tax--partial birth abortion. They always offer something for nothing to their constituency--tax cuts--private accounts. They stay on message even when it’s shown to be an unpopular message. Better strong and wrong than weak and right.

We have allowed them to define us and the issues. Liberal has become such a pejorative that we are forced to call ourselves “progressives.”

They do one other thing really well. They have a very extensive email network which they use to spread misinformation. Near the end of the campaign I was receiving one email a day from a right wing friend with some new disinformation about Kerry.

I have begun a short address list to answer the onslaught of fiction and suggest we all do the same.
