3. Thats a loaded question
Do you live near a coast? I live in Cal. What happened was the tide suddenly went way down... locals thought this was very odd as they've never had an earthquake, so some actually walked further out where there had been water. Almost like it was a massive low tide. After a minute or two, the tide came rushing in, then a second wave came in on top of that. It was more of a huge high tide then a tidal wave in most spots. Of course places where there was a reef would produce a huge wave, but for the most part it was similar to the movie The Day After Tommorrow. What I find odd is that it did not recede back to normal. If you look at some of the satellite photos, it appears as if much of the affected coast is still underwater.
