Most ignorant people don't take sleep apnea seriously, they think it's just a lack of sleep and some snoring. Even though every one at the hospital was informed of my condition prior to my 1ST surgery attempt they decided they could knock me out completely then intubate me. After 45 minutes of probing and forcing air into me they decided it was better to wake me and I woke up unable to breath because of the trauma caused to my throat to swell shut. There I was with a room full of doctors staring at me wondering why I was choking, I was flopping around like a fish out of water, grabbed the nurse and shook her trying to get them to do something eventually I was out again and woke up in recovery with a device in my throat to hold it open so I could breath - it was painful. The following week I had an anesthesiologist that knew something about dealing with severe sleep apnea and he did it right the first time and all went well.
