a load of crap that liberals were in favor of big gov't while conservatives favored small gov't; it was never anything more than repuke propaganda, which should be undeniably obvious to all by now. It was never about the size of the gov't, but simply about *where* one wanted that government to operate. In any case, liberals have let repukes define this issue, like all the others, and this is a perfect issue where i think liberals could credibly reframe the argument, and present themselves as the protectors of individual liberty against big-government excess.
