17. The real meaning of Christmas
...is getting cool stuff, isn't it?

Actually, a Christian friend and I were discussing this a few days ago. He's angered about "discrimination against Christian displays in public". Luckily I had just read the thread someone posted about the 'Happy Winter Solstice' sign they'd put up near a nativity scene, both on public property by permit. The sign was defaced, knocked down and driven over night after night until both permits were revoked, I believe. And that's as it should be, for the obvious reasons.

I said that a lot of times, what Christians call 'discrimination' is the separation of church and state being enforced to STOP discrimination. Like many, he doesn't get that. He argues that because this is a Christian nation, Christian displays should not only be allowed in public, but expected. If you don't like it, don't look.

It's very hard to get through to some of them.
