It was Bush, clearly, that had to have this war. He distorted CIA/DD intel to make a case for this war. He very much wanted it for a variety of reasons...primarily economic (oil and balance of trade), political (PNAC/mid-terms and a distraction from the root cause of terror-9/11), and social ( a bone to the RW/American firsters).
He most certainly could have squahed the whole run up to the war with a very simple speech telling us that it was not necessary....certainly the 10s of millions who protested would have agreed with that.
How many American's wanted this war? I saw various pro-war rallies, the most prominent in Washington, DC...a whooping 30 people rallied for it.
Really, you are either uninformed or a cynical pro-Bush operative...what'll it be?
