134. Maybe it is time to part ways

That does not mean people are not of common goals. I am an architect and when a project begins everyone works towards a common goal. The client's needs are investigated and a program is developed. The architect designs a solution to the problem, a plan that does what the client needs that meets codes and practicality in concept.

Then the specialists move in. The civil engineer works out the site and utility constraints, the environmental and landscaping, the structural engineer starts in on the bones, the mechanical engineer starts in on the lungs and plumbing, the electrical engineer starts in on the nerves and communication and the interior designer starts in on some of the inter-relationships and the appearance.

Each and all working diligently to provide their common client the best design, from their perspective. However, during the process, after each has the ideal solution to their particular part of the puzzle, there is the problem of meshing all the solutions into a coherent whole. This requires each to compromise somewhat.

The mechanical engineer wants to use rooftop units located to suit a reduction in ductwork. But they are visible, and local codes require screening so the architect moves them to a less obnoxiously visible location, which the structural engineer has to account for in their weight and the snow drift load from the screens and everyone has their own professional opinion as to the best compromise. This is just a small example, but in any endeavor, the human dynamics work the same.

Everyone here has done their part, and for such a defining of roles (sorta) to occur on a public mesage board is amazing to me. Parting of ways and conflicts are inevitable, that in no way means that the structure you all built does not have a solid foundation, nor that you cannot work together again on future projects.

One thing I have learned, learned in design studio and even more in the real world is that the problem solving process is endless, designing can always be refined and another POV looked at, possible solutions are endless. There comes a time to call it a day and say this is a well thought out and reasonable way to proceed and the incremental refinements are not really gaining anything substantial. Time to stop designing and build the damn thing. (In the real world, unless you're a STarchitect, design time is EXTREMELY limited by budget and time constraints.)

Anyway, the foundation is well built, and in this case may serve a multiple purpose for all who want to use it in whatever way they seem fit. There is a program written that can branch off into LIHOP, MIHOP, BFEE as well as to continue to expose the criminal treason of outing a deep undercover NOK CIA agent working to keep americans safe. It is the latter of these purposes that may resonate with the sheeples in time for the election, but they are all valuable. That is not to say that if any branch off, they cannot have valuable contributions to the other branches.

I, again, offer my thanks and appreciation to the many valuable contributors!

on edit: I may have majored in architecture, after my father, my mom was an english major. I am not her peer, but was endlessly hounded as a youth to try.
