MoveOn ad with Sgt. Lee Buttrill

MoveOn has their Real People ads selected and the winner was an ad featuring Sgt. Lee Buttrill.

Here are a couple of other statements from Sgt. Buttrill that are interesting:

"Just wanted to set the record straight now that I am back in the States. We DID NOT cordon off the square where the people gathered and furthur more there were THOUSANDS of Iraqis there and they all came on their own. I was one of the first three American service members to enter the Palestine Hotel and view the area around the square. There was no pre-staged pro-american rally. I would never claim that all we are told by the media is unbiased and free of manipulation, but I do submit that the images on TV that day accuratley portrayed the events taking place."

"When you are moving through this country there is not a lot of people out there and you are not sure they want us here" Sgt. Lee Buttrill told ABCNEWS' Richard Engel in Baghdad. "You wonder, 'Are we doing this for us or are we doing it for them?' … You finally get here and see people in the street feeling so excited, feeling so happy, tearing down the statue of Saddam. It feels really good."

I'm wondering if these statements will somehow be used to contradict the ad. While I don't see a contradiction in what he is saying, it may not look good. I wonder if all the other folks in those ads have been checked out.
