it's doublespeak, or also known as Dubyaspeak:

Peace=War
Love=Hate
Freedom=Slavery

"they hate us for our freedoms" = they hate us for enslaving them.

The U.S. has taken all kinds of action to support, arm and train repressive regimes in the middle east. The U.S. has assassinated their freely and democratically elected leaders and installed and otherwise supported dictatorial leaders while their freedoms are repressed. The U.S. supplies arms and weapons of mass destruction to Israel which uses them to kill and repress people, while it subsidizes jewish settlements on their land with U.S taxpayer money.

So, "they hate us for our freedoms" is Dubyaspeak for "they hate us for enslaving them."
