Will the super-wealthy power brokers ever turn on *bush?

My mom is in her 80's. I had the first-ever political discussion with her! When I was a kid, she said voting was private and she would not tell anyone whom she voted for, so we never talked politics.

She spends her time reading and playing bridge. I asked her what she had been reading. She read a biography of Aristotle Onassis. She was shocked how the super-wealthy wield their power and how they trade women and wives with abandon. She said, "The wealthy power-brokers will never allow John Kerry to be president."

She also has read a biography of former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill. He stated that Nixon and Reagan were intelligent, but after his first meeting with *bush, he concluded that "*bush knows nothing".

She is currently reading "Tour of Duty" about John Kerry. She is very impressed how he has always been for the underdog, always seen the good in people, and came to prominence on his own, unlike the Kennedy's, who came to power with an assist from their father. She also believes Iraq is another Vietnam, in her words "a disaster".

She is obviously on our side, but she has no hope of a Kerry win. The wealthy did well under Clinton, but what about the super-wealthy? It is possible that they have the power to control the election. If they do have that power, what will turn them away from "the squatter in the White House" and turn them on to a Kerry presidency? Or is it hopeless, like she says?
