3. I think people are becoming increasingly cynical
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 11:26 PM by sandraj
about these alerts, based on the emails flooding CNN today, and Lou Dobbs' poll:

What do you think is behind the latest terror warning?

New intelligence 3% 249 votes

Ongoing threat 4% 299 votes

Playing politics 93% 7449 votes
Total: 7997 votes

I predict that over the next couple of months, Kerry and Edwards will develop a huge support base (if not already), and the media will be forced to stop its whoring because no one is listening to the BS anymore. The screaming headlines give validity to the alerts. If more and more people ignore the screaming headlines, it translates into less and less money for the media companies: fewer eyeballs = a drop in advertising. Oops, better feature stories people actually want to read and hear.

We can count the days until the election now. That is going to energize a lot of people, terror alerts or not. I predict that the momentum is going to run roughshod over the fearmongering.
