But seriously, no one should be able to blame you for choosing Kerry if they ever saw your eloquent and lucid defense of him. You're right, back when Kerry surrendered the war-powers vote, the level at which the administration was willing to use rank deception couldn't possibly be known (the biggest evidence of the sort, that Bush lied about the IAEA report, could be dismissed as a "misstatement") and given the fact that Saddam doesn't exactly fit the description of a sentimental victim, and it was conventional wisdom back then that Saddam had at least SOME weaponsofmassdestruction stashed somewhere, it was easy to be swayed by the administration's argument.

As you said, almost everyone who voted against the war-powers act did so because they didn't want to surrender the congressional power to declare war, not that they did not want to prepare for war. Hindsight is always 20/20, and Kerry has done a good job so far criticizing Bush's deceptive drive to war.
