4. I think we need to define "compassionate" for these people
Here's the definition:

"1. Having a temper or disposition to pity; sympathetic; merciful."

What does that definition have to do with respect or responsibility?

Don't you just love how they take a beautiful word with a beautiful meaning and completely twist it around to fit THEIR agenda?

Respect and responsibility, while positive concepts themselves, actually have nothing to do with compassion. Compassion just is compassion. Mercy. Sympathy. Pity. A synonym for compassion is HUMANE.

So according to the rest of that Shrub definition of compassion, compassion means making sure we can end people's dependence on the government?

I'd love to see everyone living independently, making their own way, never needing any help, but that just isn't reality and it has nothing to do with compassion.
