The Democrats have a pro-lifer in their party?! They MUST be moving to the center.
...only, not. Does Reid as minority leader mean that the Democratic Party is shifting to the right, because he's pro-life? No. Does Arlen Specter as chairman of the Judiciary Committee mean that the Republican Party is shifting to the left, because he's a relatively pro-choice moderate? No. It simply doesn't make any sense.
As for what they call "even more telling," Bush's approval ratings, Gallup has always given Bush high approval ratings when every other poll gave him lower ones. Even if his ratings really have hit the 55% mark, it's almost certainly due to a post-election bounce; voters think he won the election fair and square, he's not illegitimate anymore.
Nearly 60% of Americans think marriage is a state issue, even if they don't agree with gay marriage - they don't want a constitutional amendment.
74% of people are worried about the way things are going in Iraq, only 44% believe the US is winning that war, 49% believe we will not be able to establish a democratic government, and, according to which pollster you listen to, 48-50% thought going to war with Iraq was a bad idea, and 55% disapprove of Bush's handling of it.
I wonder if I should trust a site that has an ad saying "Help continue Reagan's legacy: Take a stand for conservatism" on the side frame. Probably not.
