1. This is so convoluted that I think Novak has gone beyond spinning to lying
"It is no secret that President Bush's political advisers were cool to recalling Davis."

Whaaat?

" They relished the thought of the universally disliked governor twisting in the wind throughout 2004, helping Bush win in a state that surely would smother Democratic presidential hopes. But that delicious prospect has disappeared. The question is: who will replace Davis?"

There is the fanciful complicated reasoning. It sounds implausible to me.

Considering that Novak is the White House political assassin these days (note the Ambassador Joe Wilson story, with Novak "outing" Wilson's wife as an intelligence operative), I am highly skeptical of this account. It is also published in shamelessly partisan Townhall. Was this also Novak's weekly column, or is it an exclusive for the frightfully freeper following at townhall?
