He was probably expecting to be welcomed and treated as "a martyr to a glorious cause" and get lots of respect and kudos from both the guards and his fellow inmates.

What I don't think he realized is that from the inmates' standpoint a vast majority of them are 'innocent' :sarcasm:
and from the standpoint of the guards' they are NOT, or they wouldn't be here...
and 'respect' in a prison society is a WHOLE different ball of wax from that of outside.
You have to be an extremely strong, ruthless, nasty-ass mofo to earn 'respect' on the inside.
An "innocent martyr to a glorious cause" merely gets eaten for lunch.



CAVEAT: Anything I may think I know about prison I learned from reading on the Internet...and watching Miami CSI.:shrug:
