The circular firing squad is now assembling over the NARAL ad, and few people are loading their guns with more zeal than former Clinton aide Lanny Davis. Davis has been the Republicans' best friend on this issue, offering condemnations of NARAL sure to warm the cockles of Karl Rove's heart. But http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/12/AR2005081201596.html|what he told the Washington Post> is so unbelievable, when I saw it I thought my head was going to explode:

A number of Democrats still say the party's best hopes are on the high road. "We have to define the reckless left of our party and differentiate ourselves," said former Clinton aide Lanny Davis, who denounced the NARAL ad. He said such "smear and innuendo" has caused his party to lose recent elections.

Oh my god. Are you kidding me? Are you fucking kidding me?

I understand that there are legitimate differences within the Democratic Party about ideology, tactics, and strategy. But that may be the single stupidest thing I've heard a Democrat say all year.
