The only real strength we have as Progressives now and the only one we'll be able to count on if/when the world truly turns to shyte is the ability to communicate. There's so much disinformation, it's so subtle and it's so easy for us to be lulled by what we don't know. That exactly is what makes it easy for the Wurlitzer to fill in the gaps with horseroar. Be wary.

I got a big face-full of it when I joined the Army some thirtymumble years ago and my fellow soldiers found out I was from NC. You wouldn't believe how many people asked me about Mayberry. Then they found out I was from the mountains. You wouldn't believe how many more people asked me if I wore shoes and if I had to get up at 4am to hoe the grits.

No shit.

AFAIC, the "poor dumb Floridians who can't figure out a butterfly ballot" meme and the "fumducker Texans who keep putting crooked repugs in power despite the entire world knowing the politicians are pure-dee crooks" amount to SSDD. We're all systematically being fed the same stereotype crap that isn't being fed inside those state borders. Believe me, there are battles going on inside those borders about which news isn't getting out. I can only report about it because I've been both places (and escaped). There are a lot of good bloggers here telling the stories (I've been following MadFloridian for several years, and quite a few others). There's a lot more they can't tell because they just can't be everywhere.

Oh, I wish to Dog that someone would/could recover those videos from Channel 7 Miami of those document shredding trucks. I know damnwell they existed at one time, but it's been 8 long years and that's more than plenty of time for more shredding to have occurred. I know equally well that the whole of south Florida also saw those news clips, so somebody, some time is going to revive that story. Of course, that was well before YouTube, but maybe, just maybe there was one VCR going. YNK - Ya Nevah Know.

About feeling bad -- don't. Passion is what makes and keeps us Progressive. It's a good quality to have. A good Progressive uses every situation as a vehicle to education.
