219. I'm afraid we're going to have to give an awful lot- as much as we can

because I've noticed an awful lot of DUers have sons, brothers, sisters, nephews over there and I know how much it hurts them when we say something without thinking. You must know there are some damn good kids over there. Hell, I could have been over there. Irate Citizen, one of our finest and most liberal DUers is headed over there soon and we have to think of them...

I hate that cheering- it GALLS me to no end but I try to put myself in their shoes. They don't know 1/10th of the things we do and most have been so brain-washed and indoctrinated that their reaction is so normal- so human for soldiers.

Also, consider that they were hand-picked. The Army doesn't just send anyone to meet politicians... imagine how much they scrutinized who would get to meet Bush. This photo op was too important to let any unhappy soldiers attend.
