Bush and Kerry go tooth and nail in fiery debate

On domestic matters Kerry again knocked Bush, pointing to the federal deficit, the loss of jobs since he came to office and tax cuts he claimed favored the wealthiest people in the United States. Bush touted the creation of more than 1.9 million jobs. He also appeared exasperated over Kerry's intention to raise taxes on those who earn more than $200,000 a year.

Bush said most small-business owners, who account for the majority of jobs in the country, file as individual taxpayers and that increasing their taxes would hurt those adding people to the payroll.
