I have a family member that lives on the North edge of Joplin. They weren't directly hit by the tornado, but they saw it in plain view. They described it as being as large or larger than the tornado at the end of the movie Twister. They think it's a definite F5.
No tornadoes to speak of near St. Louis here, but in some areas softballs and grapefruit (hail) fell from the sky.
