BOSTON -- Suspicious letters containing white powder were sent Tuesday to the offices of Sen. Scott Brown and Attorney General Martha Coakley.

Coakley's office at One Ashburton Place reported receiving the letter at about 11:30 a.m. Powder fell from the envelope when it was opened by an employee. The letter was sent to a state lab.

About an hour later, a letter with white powder was sent to Brown's office in the J.F.K. Federal Building, police said.

"Initial field tests have been conducted and the results do not indicate that the substance poses a risk. In an abundance of caution, additional testing will be conducted," Coakley's office said in a statement.
