It is just like during Prohibition. By legalizing alcohol, they took it "off the streets", made the product safe and taxed it. Unfortunately they did not release the people already incarcerated for "moonshining" or "bootlegging", but even during Prohibition, the politicians all had their own stock of liquor. Just like today, I suspect that many of them have their own stash at hand. Of course, we are the proles and with our two-tiered "legal system", we are the ones liable for prosecution over a (much safer than alcohol) "drug." When I was younger, my "drug of choice" was alcohol. Alcohol is a much more harmful substance. It makes you lose inhibitions and do very dangerous things. Not to mention the people who die from alcohol poisoning. Neither of these things happen with Marijuana, in fact, it tends to make you more docile and you can not "O.D." on marijuana. IMO, they keep it illegal so they can profit from it. The prison industrial complex, the court systems (they will seize your property) and, I am sure that many of them have organized crime connections that pay them to keep pot illegal. We need, now more than any time in history, a revolution. We can not fight the worlds largest military with force but if we all went on strike until our government were handed back to the people, we could win. If we don't, marijuana legalization will be one of the smaller problems. People can no longer afford to exist or get medical help.....
