Union and Democratic Party supporters are expected to gather at rallies in Oshkosh, Fond du Lac and Waupun on Thursday before heading down to Madison to deliver the required signatures to force a recall election against Sen. Randy Hopper.

During a rally held Tuesday in Waupun, Todd Wetzel, field representative for AFSCME 24, told the crowd of 200 or more supporters gathered at Rock River Intermediate School that enough signatures had been collected in the recall campaign.

“Campaign organizers will be making a pit stop tomorrow at Waupun City Hall before heading to Madison to take the signatures to the office of the Government Accountability Board,” Wetzel said. “I believe Scott Dillman of Lamartine, the guy who first filed the petition, will be on hand to say a few words.”

Also joining Wetzel at the rally Tuesday afternoon in Waupun were Sen. Jon Erpenbach, D-Middleton, and Madison radio personality John “Sly” Sylvester. Several posts made by union officials on Facebook also confirmed the announcement.
