Yes. It may come as a surprise to you but our government sends a lot of money to the Broadcasting Board of Governors, whose job it is to put a nice face on America and broadcast internationally a "balanced view of America" (quotes mine).

We're talking Voice of America (Radio & TV), Alhurra, Radio Free Europe, Radio & TV Marti, Al Sawa radio. Their budget is $767 million for 2012. As a comparison, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting had a budget of $495 million last year. Ironically a lot of "PBS" content (Newshour, Frontline, etc) ends up broadcast on VOA TV.
