87. I've read comparisons between Obama & Clinton, who seemed to benefit from
disappointing his base by moving toward center. Times are very different since Clinton was in office, however. There wasn't a $13.8 trillion deficit to which Clinton wanted to add hundreds of billions of dollars by giving the super-rich tax giveaways. Also, the nation had not yet been traumatized for 10 years by a "my way or the highway" mentality by the opposition.

True, Clinton had been wrongfully, unmercifully persecuted by the thugs his entire presidency, but that worked hugely in his favor when it came to opinion polls.
