I never said that BP should be allowed to get away with this. They need to be prosecuted, held accountable, drawn and quartered, etc.

Until we find real solutions to our dependence on fossil fuels I think, unfortunately, that drilling is here to stay. While it is still a reality in our world we need to make sure that it is done with the utmost concern for our environment. Shortcuts were taken by BP and, in addition to being punished for it, BP and companies like it need to be watched like hawks to avoid these disasters.

To say that we should stop all drilling and to drive a car to make that statement is hypocritical, IMHO.

What is your solution to this? Would you rather the drilling just take place in another part of the world so you don't have to see the effects? Do you drive a vehicle that consumes gas?
