happen is one sure-fire deterrent. The other is massive--multi-BILLION dollar fines.
Problem is, those massive, multi-BILLION DOLLAR fines will start to cut off the other pipeline that BP and other energy companies have to maintain in order to make their obscene profits--the pipeline that goes from their coffers into the pockets of our elected representatives and appointed regulators. Until that one is shut down we aren't going to see much in the way of reform or preventive action.
