ABC NewsApproximately 900,000 General Electric branded 12-cup digital coffee makersare being recalled, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Walmart announced.
The coffee makers have the potential to overheat and could cause burns or a fire, according to the CPSC.
The recall, announced this morning, is for the white and black coffee makers with model numbers 169164 and 169165. The GE logo and model numbers are on the bottom of the base, according to the CPSC.
The $30 coffee makers were sold at Walmart stores across the country from March 2008 to January 2010, according to the CPSC.
Walmart received 83 reports of smoking, melting, overheating, burning and fire, the CPSC said in a statement. That included three reports of burn injuries.
