Mahmood Ahmed was allowed to retire, and resurfaced after a discreet interval as the head of Pakistan's Fauji Fertilizer, a big business which is apparently something of a pasture for ex-military men.
Significantly, there is no record that the United States ever even sought to question Ahmed regarding the wire transfer.
