WASHINGTON, Jan 20 (Reuters) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid yielded to calls from members of both parties on Thursday and said the Senate would take no additional action on sweeping healthcare legislation until Republican Senator-elect Scott Brown is seated.

With Democrats scrambling to decide how to proceed on the healthcare overhaul that was a major issue in the Massachusetts election, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, who helped write the bill, said the legislation was "alive and well." But he gave no indication on how Democrats would succeed in getting a bill to President Barack Obama. (Reporting by Donna Smith; Editing by David Alexander)
