33. It's difficult when what is right must fight against the profit motive.
The insurance companies have lots of money they can budget to fight against what they know is right. This issue has become a revealing test of democracy versus plutocracy. Something like 70% of American voters favor health care reform. Now we find out if voters matter more than money.

And where have the big corporations gone who support a public option? Part of the driving force behind the issue came from companies complaining they had to pay for health insurance that their foreign competitors did not. I remember GM saying it added $1500 to the price of every car, $1500 that Japanese and German carmakers did not have to pay.
