A gender neutral law that defines rape as an unconsented sexual attack upon anyone regardless of gender is a possible solution to this problem. Prison authorities need to enforce such a law. But the key to finding a solution is to change society's view with regard to this problem.

Here in Minnesota we used to have two comedians whose daily radio show shtick was John Wayne Gacey and Jeffrey Dahmer jokes. To these clowns, male-on-male rape was the biggest joke anywhere. Their ''humor'' certainly wasn't funny. But it was popular for a very long time.

A few years ago on TV there was a news presentation that included the story of a man who was imprisoned for several months because of a mistaken identity. He did not have a criminal record and could not raise bail because of his low income. While in prison he was repeatedly gang raped and was infected with AIDS. Upon his release he inadvertently infected every one at home. It is very puzzling how people find this humorous.
