Former White House deputy chief of staff and current Fox News commentator Karl Rove once again failed to appear to give testimony in front of a House committee. Rove was scheduled to appear in front of the House Judiciary Committee to discuss his role in the firing of U.S. attorneys.

As he has in the past, Rove didn’t appear, citing executive privilege.

Former U.S. Attorney David Iglesias was fired after the 2006 elections for what appears to be political reasons. At that time, U.S. Rep. Heather Wilson was involved in a close race with former state Attorney General Patricia Madrid for the 1st Congressional District seat. Wilson and former Sen. Pete Domenici, both Republicans, each made phone calls to Iglesias.

That firing, along with other potentially politically motivated firings of U.S. attorneys across the country, has prompted a federal investigation that may be targeting Rove.
