119. Last week my two year old nephew found a caterpillar on the ground
he DESPERATELY wanted to squish it, but his grandmother persuaded him not to, telling him that it would become a beautiful butterfly someday and that it deserved to live like everyone else. Nephew pouted-he still wanted to squish it. At that age I would have gently picked up the caterpillar and taken it to a tree where it would be safe. I think that the need to nurture and protect is a fundamental part of female nature, while the need to destroy and dominate is a fundamental part of male nature. Some people reject their basic instincts while others never will.
