He has been lucky he has had really good security all these years, saving him from being bombed only a few years ago, when Cuban "exile" Luis Posada Carriles and a few of his cohorts from Miami went to Panama with bomb materials and attempted to blow up an auditorium where he was to speak to a large crowd.

The Cuban security people learned of the plot, and alerted the police who located the bomb before it could go off. The Panamanian President, a friend of _{George Bush's,} Mireya Moscoso, pardoned these mass murderer-would-bes the day before she left office, and retired to Miami, herself. She had called ahead to Miami to inform them the assassins had been pardoned.
