The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating an incident in which members of the State Patrol used a Taser to subdue a motorist at an accident scene. The driver later died, authorities said, adding that the cause of his death has not been determined. Five troopers are now on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure.

Troopers responded to a traffic accident around 5 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate Hwy. 694 in New Brighton. They said they encountered an "uncooperative driver" and used a Taser when he would not calm down. The man, who was from Fridley, was taken to a hospital where he died.

The driver's name has not been released.
