That is already in question as is the entire rationale for current leadership legislative policy. By not arguing about the merits of course, nothing positive and a great deal negative can be assumed about their unstated stand on the issue.
As for the stuff in the works. Like stiffed committee investigations that will get nowhere, like laws that Bush will veto or cause to be changed to the further detriment of the Constitution, to the programs themselves, to crony appointments and to the advancement of a new war and the uncritical continuance of the CRIMINAL Iraq occupation? The challenge of the Bush administration is much more clear: Take me down or forget about getting anything done, getting any credit, getting any SURE political points for the noble avoidance. The first step in the argument is that in order to accomplish anything the criminal blockage around which ALL devolves must be faced, even if it were not the single most important issue facing the sworn duty of the House members to defend the Constitution and, oh yeah, the people constantly under threat because of this dangerous administration, threat to rights, threat of war, of terrorism and national disaster and deliberate mismanagement counter to the public good and the entire code of law.
In fact the steadfast compromise which is worse than that, adamant avoidance of duty(because they are "busy"). It gives the road to further deterioration of all lawmaking abilities, gives the lie to having any critical function or "loyal opposition" and seals the doom of many lives in the process. It puts the imprimatur of surrender on the death of habeas corpus, of DOJ election fraud against the democrats in particular, on unlawful, unknown surveillance(of the Dems in particular?), etc. etc.
All roads lead to impeachment and the leadership is permanently parked, having champagne and cheese at the Roadkill Cafe, waiting for a new third way presidency so we can have eight years of leadership avoidance- with a difference.
