Pinochet Booked for Operation Colombo
Santiago, Dec 8 (Prensa Latina) Ex Dictator Augusto Pinochet was formally booked by police officers and civil registration employees at his home Wednesday, at the orders of Judge Victor Montiglio for the ex president´s role in Operation Colombo.
Operation Colombo was a collaboration of repressive forces from the dictatorships of Argentina, Brazil and Chile that tried to make it appear that leftwing revolutionary movements had killed the victims in an internal struggle.
Pinochet was arrested November 24 for his responsibility for six of the 119 political activists who disappeared in this repressive South American operation in 1974 and 1975.
The booking of the ex president, consisting of fingerprinting and photos with police number, had been requested by prosecutor Hernan Quezada when Pinochet lost his Supreme Court appeal, although this procedure was not done for his previous charges.
Augusto Pinochet has been arrested as co-perpetrator of the qualified kidnapping of the Carlos and Also Perez brothers, Bernardo de Castro, Roberto Aranda, Modesto Espinoza and Manuel Acuna, who disappeared at the hands of the National Intelligence Office.
