18. Not to be wonky, but...
The Democratic Party had nothing to win and everything to lose in Philly and the NJ Legislature. This was a hold. Both states were secure Democrat states with 100% Electoral College allocation to the winner. It matters not if Clark or Dean get 51% or 99% of the vote in New Jersey. We have to think about the Electoral College. Too many people are too insistent on the false promise of the popular vote. It is meaningless in the aggregate!!!!!

Your comment that Bush is uniting and energizing Democratic voters is disturbing to me. Do we have NO ONE in our own party who can do that? Has our party come to stand for nothing except that which we are against (see the popularity amongst the hard-core of the "Anyone But Bush" shirts). Many people on the right make this claim. Your comment only adds validity to that claim.

BTW, a friend of mine from high school won a seat in the State Senate. Congratulations to State Senator-elect Nick Scutari.
