Bechtel has several subcontractors - I have had to deal with 2 different groups.

My neighbors waited on a FEMA trailer, while they lived with their daughter, commuting daily 40 miles or more to come to their lot to clean it of the debris and recover what they could. They suffered the same fate as I suffered, their entire home was destroyed, they were left with their front steps and a pile of rubble.

She is a colon cancer survivor, you can imagine how hard it was for her to work on her lot for hours with no bathroom facilities available. I gave them the key to my trailer to use when I was at work. He suffers from high blood pressure and injuries he received while in the military. They completed the paperwork, they visited the FEMA facilities and dotted all of the "i's" and crossed all of the "t's", including in their requests their disabilities. For weeks they waited, finally a kind benefactor gave their church several trailers to give to its members and they received on of the gift trailers.

FEMA/Bechtel still calls them to arrange delivery of a trailer, even though they advised they did not need one anymore. FEMA/Bechtel calls them to make an appointment to repair the microwave that is in the FEMA trailer they never received.

The incompetency is delaying getting shelter to those who need it, it is wasting our tax dollars and it is adding to the emotional stress that the survivors are going through.

There has to be an answer - someone has to care. :cry:
