when Rowland got elected in 1994, he basically won on a split vote between Independents & Democrats in a 3 way race.
The article implies one of the top Republicans in the state may get into the race if Weicker also gets in... so, we'd have the liberal Weicker, moderate Lieberman splitting the 65% of the vote and a conservative Republican maybe winning with like 35%.
