Looks perhaps even better now for Donna Frye! Ron Roberts just announced that he's not running in the special election for mayor!

Roberts: Not candidate for mayor's job

12:37 p.m. May 4, 2005

SAN DIEGO – County Supervisor Ron Roberts, who made three unsuccessful San Diego mayoral runs, said Wednesday he will not enter the race to replace Dick Murphy, who will step down on July 15.

"I like very much what I am doing here at the county of San Diego," Roberts said. "I've decided, along with my wife, my daughters and closest friends, that I am not going to be a candidate for mayor of San Diego."

Roberts, joined by his wife at a morning news conference, said the decision not to run was "probably the hardest decision ever."

Roberts placed third in the contested November mayoral election against Murphy and write-in candidate Councilwoman Donna Frye.
