to read all the posts that excuse Johnny Cochran's role in insuring a brutal double-murderer (and wife beater) walks free-- by deliberately stirring up racial hostilities among an all black jury. Apparently, many people think this is what a "good" lawyer is supposed to do.
Let me pose a question. If a prosecuting attorney, with great legal and forensic skill, managed to get an innocent black man (or woman) convicted of murder--, by stirring up racial animosities with an all-white jury, would we also excuse him? He was just doing his job, right? After all, lawyers are not expected to show any integrity, are they?
There is a reason many people feel that, as a group, lawyers are too often totally amoral scum. Johnny Cochran is a prime example of the breed.
