INDIA, Russia and China will hold a Foreign Ministerial meeting in June, the first stand-alone conference of the three countries striving to enhance cooperation in diverse fields trilaterally.

The meeting will take place in Russia and economic cooperation will be high on the agenda, India’s External Affairs Ministry sources said in New Delhi on Thursday.

Issues like terrorism, energy and UN reforms are also expected to figure in the confabulations, they said. Foreign Ministers of the three countries have met four times in a trilateral forum on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meet and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). This, however, will be first time that a meeting has been called separately.

During the last meeting in Almaty, the three countries had decided to intensify their fight against terrorism and drug trafficking. They discussed the UN`s role in solving world issues and took note of developments in Iraq and Afghanistan. snip

Meeting for the fourth time as part of the trilateral forum, the ministers emphasised the need for multilateralism and greater UN role in world affairs as they demonstrated "convergence of views" on various issues.
